RE: Notice of the 2026 Lac Ste. Anne Métis District Annual District Gathering

Dear Citizens of Lac Ste. Anne Métis District,

In accordance with the Lac Ste. Anne Métis District Bylaws and all relevant legislation of the Otipemisiwak Métis Government, it is my honour to provide official notice of the Lac Ste. Anne Métis District Annual District Gathering, to be held on October 17th at the PERC Building in Stony Plain, Alberta.

Eligible citizens of Lac Ste. Anne Métis District who attend the Annual District Gathering will have the opportunity to present, discuss, and vote on Resolutions and Special Resolutions, in accordance with Lac Ste. Anne Métis District’s Bylaws and all relevant legislation of the Otipemisiwak Métis Government.

I encourage all citizens of Lac Ste. Anne Métis District to attend this year's gathering. It is an opportunity to meet with friends, relatives, fellow citizens, and your elected officials, while coming together to celebrate our community through dance, music, culture, and civic duty.

Your participation matters. As we continue our path of self-determination, it is more important than ever that our citizens take part in the democratic process and help shape the future of our District and the Métis Nation within Alberta.

I especially encourage our young people to attend and participate. The Otipemisiwak Métis Government is unique in providing citizens aged 16 and older with the opportunity to take part in our democratic process. Your voices and perspectives are an important part of our future.

We are a strong people, rooted in a long tradition of political participation stretching back to Red River and the leadership of Louis Riel. We are Otipemisiwak  “The people who govern themselves.”

Please join us on October 17th. Come participate, connect with your fellow citizens, celebrate our culture, and be part of our path forward.
